Congratulations and thanks to all 2014 Great Cloth Diaper Change participants and supporters!! Guinness World Records verified that we broke the record… the new world record is 8,459 cloth diapers changed at one time at 188 qualifying locations in 18 countries on 6 continents: Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Philippines, Romania, South Africa, Spain, United Kingdom, USA!
Another 3 countries held nonqualifying (but cloth-diaper-awareness-increasing!) events: Japan, Korea, Sweden
82 cities hosted events that didn’t qualify for the Guinness World Record BUT DID ACCOMPLISH our goal of increasing awareness about reusable cloth diapers.
Unofficial babies changed: 9,770 (including sites that didn’t qualify per stringent Guinness regulations, but did in fact hold events increasing awareness about reusable cloth diapers in their communities.)
Advocating for cloth diapers with the Real Diaper Association
For your ongoing opportunity to help spread the word about cloth diapers, please join the Real Diaper Association, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that presents the Great Cloth Diaper Change.
Want to see more babies in cloth diapers? The Real Diaper Association supports volunteers in the US and Canada in advocating toward this goal in their communities.
Want to see more evidence-based information to support families in cloth diapering? The Real Diaper Association worked with laundry experts to compile easy wash instructions and laundry science here: http://realdiaperassociation.org/wash, and are continuing to conduct direct research on various cloth diapering science topics (such as washing cloth diapers in the presence of a yeast infection.)
Want new parents to have access to a community of cloth diaperers? Real Diaper Circle Leaders are trained in nonviolent communication (NVC) to support families with evidence-based information on cloth diapering.
Love the Great Cloth Diaper Change? Events celebrating cloth diapering wouldn’t happen without the Real Diaper Association! Watch for the School of Cloth in November, a fun event focused on cloth diaper education!
